ISLAMABAD: Though Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf is not attending the National Assembly in protest over Panama papers, its legislator Asad Umar tabled a bill in the National Assembly secretariat on Monday.

The bill is aimed at stopping the Capital Development Authority (CDA) from ‘occupying the land of Islamabad’s residents’.

Mr Umar has stated in the bill that the CDA Ordinance 1960 should be amended so that the land of the citizens could be saved from CDA. He said that the CDA had become a white elephant which has started occupying the land of the people.

“The land is occupied and handed over to the developer without paying compensation to the owners of the land. There are a number of residents who have been running from pillar to post to get compensation for their land,” he said.

According to the law, CDA can get the possession of the land from any person in the limits of federal capital and under the law people are bound to hand over their land.
