KARACHI, Dec 11: The brewing controversy over the mid-term changes in the top slot of FPCCI has intensified as more business leaders have shown their loyalty to each side.

The former president FPCCI Fazal-ur-Rehman Dittu had demanded that commitments made for mid-term changes at the top slot of the apex body of trade should be honoured.

He said that the dignity and honour of the business community could only be assured if such commitment at the highest level are honoured without fail.

Dittu expressed his utter dismay and displeasure over the brewing controversy and said that if written commitments become source of friction and dissension between the signatories of a document it only shows moral bankruptcy of the violating side.

Former president Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Pervez Hanif said that if the incumbent President of the FPCCI feels that he holds ground, therefore, he should hold fresh election to justify his position.

Under given situation, he said the best way out is to hold fresh election to prove each others position and claims. It is very simple if any body claims he still enjoys the full support of the business community the holding of fresh elections will make it clear and put the right man at the top slot of FPCCI.

Pervez Hanif was critical of the power brokers among the business community and said over the years some leaders have the hold over the trade bodies and they never allowed genuine people to come forward to fight for the right of the community.

He urged upon the entire business community to come forward and elect genuine leaders who could dedicate their time for the larger interest of trade and industry which will be beneficial for the economic growth of the country.
