World’s largest radio telescope

The world’s largest radio telescope has begun searching for signals from stars and galaxies and, perhaps, extraterrestrial life.

Measuring 1,640ft in diameter, the radio telescope is nestled within a stunning landscape of lush green karst formations in southern Guizhou province, China.

The facility took five years and around £140 million to complete, and surpasses the capability of the 985ft Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, a dish used in research on stars which led to a Nobel Prize.

The Five-hundred-metre Aperture Spherical Telescope, or FAST would search for gravitational waves, detect radio emissions from stars and galaxies and listen for signs of intelligent extraterrestrial life.

Zayn Malik continues to battle anxiety

Zayn Malik is reportedly ‘dreading’ going on tour with his debut album ‘Mind Of Mine’. He has spoken publicly in the past about his struggle with anxiety which led him to cancel his appearance at the Capital FM Summertime Ball back in June, and it could apparently threaten his first solo tour, set to kick off next year.

An insider said: “Zayn is still really struggling with his anxiety. The thought of going on a full world tour fills him with dread. Even a one-off TV appearance is unlikely at the moment. Zayn has been working hard to get control of his fears and obviously wants to perform live. But at the same time he doesn’t want to let anyone down by announcing dates and then cancelling them. He’s feeling a lot of pressure to perform and feels much more comfortable in the studio.” Zayn was also scheduled to perform in Dubai this month but pulled out due to being ‘overcome with extreme anxiety’.
