TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 31: Gas consumers face problems as a result of low pressure in the morning and at night.
The trouble started in Ramazan and still continuing. The situation is different in different areas of the city. Even in a same street some consumers enjoy full supply of gas and some others none at all. People are forced to purchase firewood and oil stoves.
A Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) official told this correspondent at that time that pressure would be increased in Ramazan but the promise has yet to be fulfilled.
An official said on Monday that due to cold weather the use of gas has increased manifold causing gas shortage.
But, a reliable source said gas was supplied to the suburban localities by the political governments without laying proper pipelines. Though a six-inch pipeline was planned to be laid but the work has not yet been started.
The Faisalabad SNGPL chief engineer visited here a few days ago. He told consumers that the plan could not be executed due to shortage of funds. He expressed the hope that funds for the project would be provided in next budget.
Public circles have urged the SNGPL authorities to send technical staff to find out the cause of irregular gas supply and take immediate steps to restore the supply.
