LAHORE, Dec 31: The Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) urged the government on Monday to send special delegations comprising diplomats and politicians to Islamic countries to brief them on the situation India was creating on its borders with Pakistan.

A resolution adopted at the party’s foundation day at the Muslim League House said that all Islamic countries should express their support for Pakistan and treat a possible attack on Pakistan as aggression against the Ummat.

Mian Muhammad Azhar presided over the meeting.

The resolution said the world should be told that India wanted to punish Pakistan for its support to the international coalition against terrorism. The international community, it said, should stop Indian aggression against its nuclear armed rival.

The resolution pointed out that a just solution of the Kashmir dispute was imperative for a lasting peace in the region.

Another resolution underlined the need for national unity at a time when India was deploying its forces on borders with Pakistan. It said that the PML(QA) alone was capable of steering the country out of the crisis it was embroiled in at present.

Earlier, addressing the meeting, the party chief said the PML had the honour of getting the Muslims of the subcontinent a separate homeland. He regretted that some PML leaders had tried to strengthen themselves rather than the party.

He promised to run the party in accordance with the principles of the Father of the Nation. He said he would not repeat the mistakes of his predecessors. No decisions, he said, would be taken without consultation.

He said he was satisfied with the party’s performance in the local elections and hoped that it would be equally successful in the general elections.

Mian Azhar directed party workers across the country to be ready to face the challenge.

He also asked Gohar Ayub Khan, the party secretary-general, to instruct the provincial presidents to prefer dedicated workers in the selection of candidates.

The PML(QA) chief said workers should take an active part in the organizational matters.

Gohar Ayub Khan and Begum Abida Husain mentioned the aggressive Indian designs and said the nation would frustrate them through its unity. In view of the high morale of the people of Lahore, they said, India would not dare attack Pakistan.
