LAHORE, Dec 31: The Punjab health department on Monday ultimately finalized the draft of Punjab Medical and Health Institutions Rules, 2002, and sent to the law department for onward submission to the governor.
The major portion of rules regarding governance and recruitment was already finalized and currently a task force was working on the finalization of rules for private practice in the province.
The rules have proposed that procedural private practice by surgeons should be done in teaching hospitals rather than at private clinics.
The draft also proposed that the hospital staff — CMO, MO and house officers — would be governed by the board of governors of respective medical colleges and attached teaching hospitals.
The rules also say that all senior employees of the autonomous health institutions will be having Punjab domicile, while the principal executive officers will be selected on all-Pakistan basis.
SURPRISE VISIT: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool on Monday paid a surprise visit to the Lahore General Hospital.
The governor visited emergency, wards and private rooms. He inquired after patients health, checked doctors’ attendance and inspected drug store’s register. He also asked people present in the hospital whether their patients’ were being attended accordingly or they were facing problems.
The governor directed the administration to ensure cleanliness in the hospital.
