KARACHI, Dec 7: The distinguished American academician and biographer of the Quaid-i-Azam, Professor Stanley Wolpert, arrived here on Sunday on a six-day visit to Pakistan during which he will participate in a two-day conference on confidence-building measures in Islamabad.
The conference has being organized by the Islamabad Peace Research Institute amid recent moves for normalization of relations between Pakistan and India.
Professor Emeritus of South Asian history at the University of California, Prof Wolpert will also speak at the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, and the Women University in Rawalpindi, before flying out on Dec 12.
During his stay in the federal capital, Prof Wolpert is expected to meet top government functionaries. He has published 20 books on South Asia, including Jinnah of Pakistan, Zulfi Bhutto of Pakistan, Nehru: A Tryst with Destiny, and Gandhi’s passion: The life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.
