ISLAMABAD, Dec 4: An Awami National Party (ANP) delegation led by its president Asfandyar Wali is leaving for New Delhi to attend a conference being organized by Hindustan Times on Dec 10.
The Indian newspaper claims that former prime minister Benazir Bhutto will also attend the two-day conference, but PPP officials were not available for confirmation.
The conference, which is part of Hindustan Times’ Leadership Initiative, is titled, “The Peace Dividend: Progress for India, Pakistan and the Neighbourhood”. Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will inaugurate the conference.
It is being attended by high-profile politicians and intellectuals.
Sources claimed that an invitation had also been extended to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain.
According to the newspaper the conference would discuss and map the economic, strategic and geopolitical future of India and S. Asia in relation to the world.
