KARACHI, Dec 2: Pakistan’s blue ribbon golfing event, the Pakistan Open will be held at Karachi Golf Club from Dec 25 to 28, secretary Sindh Golf Association Asad I. Khan said on Tuesday.
He said a cream of country’s professionals golfers will be featuring in the four-day competition which will be played over 72-holes.
A lucrative purse of Rs 1 million will be at offer in the championship. Shabbir Iqbal of Pakistan Navy will be defending his title in the championship.
Prominent players taking part in the event included Javed Inayat, Waheed Baloch, Shahid Javed Khan, Muhammad Munir, Imdad Hussain, Shakeel Rehmati, Matloob Ahmed, Amjad Yousuf etc.
Nadeem Inayat and Shahid Jamil, who are currently playing on Asian Golf circuit in Thailand, will be returning home to figure in Pakistan Open.
Besides, Pakistan Open, an Inter-association event involving Sindh, Punjab, NWFP and Balochistan will also be played during the championship. Three best scores of provincial team members will be taken into consideration while accumulating the score.
After the Pakistan Open, SGA will be staging Sindh Open and Amateur Golf Championship in February 2004 at Arabian Sea Country Club.—APP
