KARACHI, Dec 2: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan on Tuesday once again ruled out the possibility of any change in the provincial setup, saying “it is doing well”.

Speaking at a reception hosted in his honour by the provincial minister Adil Siddiqui at his residence, he said there was no truth in such reports and they were mere speculations.

“Such speculations may affect the working of the government and create uncertainty,” the governor said.

He, however, hoped that despite it, the chief minister, Sardar Ali Muhammad Mahar, and his team would continue to work with same vigour and spirit.

Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar, minister for planning and development Shoaib Bukhari, Auqaf minister Irfan Gul Magsi, senator Babar Rizvi, MPA Kunwar Naved, MNA Dr. Farooq Sattar, IGP Syed Kamal Shah and others were also present.

On Karachi Circular Railway, he said the project has been approved and all the impediments removed. A steering committee has also been constituted in this respect, he said and hoped that work on it would begin swiftly.

Speaking about the hike in prices of wheat flour, he said directives have been issued to ensure availability of wheat flour at fixed price. The flour mills have also been made to sell flour at the rates fixed by the government, he added.

Later, the governor, along with Chief Minister, Ali Mohammed Mahar, went to the residence of late Ali Ahmed Brohi at Sindh Madressatul Islam to express condolences with his family members. On the occasion, they offered Fateha for the departed soul.

Earlier, during their meeting at the Governor’s House, the Sindh Chief Minister, Sardar Ali Mohammed Mehar, and Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad discussed various important matters, including revival of Karachi Circular Railway and promotion of various ongoing development projects.

Both the governor and the chief minister emphasised on continuity of on-going reforms for further progress in the industrial and commercial fields. They expressed satisfaction over the revival of Karachi Circular Railway and streamlining its operations on modern lines. They agreed on provision of all possible cooperation of the provincial government in this respect.

The governor and the chief minister appreciated the efforts of the administration, police and the people for maintaining peaceful and conducive conditions during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and on Eid days.

They showed confidence for further stability in the situation in the coming days and hoped that the police and the administration would continue to remain alert in the efficient discharge of their duties.
