HYDERABAD, Nov 30: The Saeedabad police has registered a case against PPP leader Makhdoom Fazal Hussain on the complaint of his elder brother, Makhdoom Ghulam Mohiuddin, for blocking the water supply to the latter’s agricultural lands in Deh Rano Bughio.

The Taluka police officer, Hala, Irshad Rajput, said the case was lodged after he visited the area along with a police contingent to nip any trouble in the bud.

Reports said that armed persons from both the sides had gathered on the agricultural lands.

The police booked Makhdoom Fazal Hussain, Ali Mohammad Junejo, Irshad Sariyo, Gulsher Sariyo and Khuda Bux Mochi and five unidentified people under sections 440, 143, 148, 149, and 337H (ii).

The dispute pertained to water course No DO-765, emanating from the Rohri minor canal, which irrigates hundreds of acres of farmland belonging to Makhdoom Fazal Hussain, Makhdoom Ghulam Mohiuddin and 30 other Khatedars.

TPO Rajput told this correspondent over the phone that Makhdoom Fazal claimed to have obtained a stay order on the waterway which was why he was not allowing water from being supplied.

He said that the other side blamed the irrigation authorities of not resolving the issue since 1999 because the said order was issued in 1999 by a district court.

The police intervened in the matter and deployed a heavy contingent to avert any clash. However, the situation remains extremely tense.
