APHC calls for tripartite talks

Published November 30, 2003

ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: APHC chairman Syed Ali Gilani has said the Indian government should resolve the long-standing Kashmir issue through tripartite talks.

He told PTV that the people of occupied Kashmir should be given their inalienable right of self-determination, which was a UN-pledged right.

He pointed out that a lasting and durable solution to the Kashmir issue could only be found peacefully through tripartite talks.

Elaborating his viewpoint, Mr Gilani said Pakistan and India should initiate dialogue and later genuine leadership of Kashmiris should join the talks.

The APHC chief said if India was sincere in resolving the Kashmir dispute, it should release all Kashmiri detainees, and stop custodial killings and harassment of Kashmiri people. —APP
