ISLAMABAD: A girl drowned in Rawal Lake while four others were rescued after a boat capsized at Rawal Lake on Friday, police said.

Police said Arshad Hussain, a resident of Rawalpindi’s Rehmatabad area, had come to Rawal Lake with his family. The family of five was enjoying a boat ride when the windstorm hit the city, the police said, adding that as a result the boat overturned.

On seeing the boat overturn, divers and the lake’s staff members dived into the water and managed to bring out four people. However they could not find 12-year-old Badrun Nisa. Till the filing of this report, efforts were being made to retrieve the girl’s body.

Mohammad Bilal Arshad, 10, was shifted to the hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.
