LAHORE, Nov 25: The city’s shopping malls, pubs and roads saw a routine rush on Tuesday evening after a large number of people left for their native towns and villages to celebrate Eid.
There was, however, an unusual rush on roads, markets and bus stops till afternoon with the commuters trying to catch buses for their destinations out of the city, causing worst traffic jams on exit routes like the Multan Road, Ferozepur Road and the Badami Bagh area.
Most of the city roads were cleared by the time the announcement of moon sighting was made immediately after Iftar. The young Lahorites, later, took to roads on their motorcycles with their silencers removed.
Although most of the shopping malls in city remained open on the Chand Raat (Eid night), shopkeepers said opening of shops was more a part of celebration rather than any major sell-out. —Staff Reporter
