LAHORE: A medical student allegedly died on Thursday after he fell from the second storey of a private medical college’s hostel building during Wednesday night windstorm in Hayer area.

Police said Naqash, 20, of Kamoki, a first-year medical student at Avi Sena Medical College had gone to the rooftop of the hostel building on Wednesday night to make a phone call.

According to police, apparently, Naqash lost his balance during the windstorm while he was busy in telephonic conversation. He fell on the roof of hostel’s porch some 10 feet below. As the porch had a false ceiling, it caved in under the weight of the youth who hit the building’s floor.

Police said the victim suffered a severe head injury and was shifted to hospital by Edhi officials where he died on Thursday morning.

Police shifted the body to city morgue for an autopsy but later handed it over to the victim’s family without the procedure.

SHO Inspector Muhammad Ishfaq said the victim’s family refused to allow the postmortem examination and took the body for burial at his native town.
