KARACHI, Nov 22: The University of Karachi has extended the date for submission of forms pertaining to varsity’ Honours and B Pharmacy programmes, for the candidates who have recently been declared pass by the educational board, with the award of grace marks.
According to a KU press release, issued on Saturday, the admission dates have been extended from Nov 24 to Dec 5.
The KU vice-chancellor had allowed those candidates who have been declared eligible by the board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, to apply for admissions to BA, BSc, BCom (Honours) and B Pharmacy, BBA and BCS classes, added the press release.
After awarding grace marks up to 11 and enabling about 10,000 candidates to pass the HSC annual examination 2003, the BIE, from Thursday, started issuing mark-sheets to the candidates, but by the time the process for submission of admission forms for Honours classes at the varsity had been closed. Thus a good number of students aspiring admissions felt that they were being deprived of opportunity to acquire varsity education.
In the meantime, the KU admission committee director said that candidates would have to purchase admission forms and prospectus from already notified 12 UBL branches and submit the forms back there, adding that tests would be conducted in those departments where it was prerequisite for the purpose.
According to KU prospectus, for admission in the faculties of Science, Arts, Islamic Studies or Commerce, candidates were required to obtain 45 per cent marks in the prerequisite examinations, while for admissions to the Pharmacy faculty, the candidates were required to obtained minimum of 60 per cent marks.
The designated UBL branches are: Nazimabad (Chowrangi), Bahadurabad, Malir Township (Tanki), New Karachi, University Road (opposite Baitul Mukarrum mosque), Hydery (opposite police station), Hamid Square (Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Block-3), Drigh Colony (near A-1 Hospital), Landhi Industrial Area, Binnori Town and Defence Garden, DHA Phase-1.
BBA (HONS) ENTRY TEST: The KU Business School on Saturday announced the results of entry tests held for BBA (Hons)-2004 admissions. Candidates concerned may have the details like dates and timings of interviews, on display at the Silver Jubilee and Maskan gates of the varsity, besides department’s notice board.
C&I Science: The KU department of Computer Science, has announced the results of Post-graduate Diploma in Computer and Information Science (Afternoon programme) entry test.
