KHAIRPUR, Nov 20: Jeay Sindh Mahaz-Z chief Zain Shah has called on political parties of Sindh to form an alliance to launch a struggle against the Kalabagh dam and Thal canal.

Speaking to party activists here on Thursday, he said the Kalabagh dam was an anti-Sindh project and if it was constructed, the province would be turned into a barren landscape.

He said after the construction of the dam, water shortage would increase not only at farmland but also in many Sindh cities including Karachi.

Mr Shah rejected the notion that Karo-kari was a part of Sindhi culture and demanded that strict punishment should be awarded to the perpetuators of the crime.

NAZIM: Nizamani union council Nazim Ghulam Hyder Mahar on Thursday quit the People’s Party Parliamentarian-backed Awam Dost Panel and joined the Khairpur Dost Panel.

Announcing the decision at a press conference at the Muslim League House here, he said he was dissatisfied with the working of the district government during last two years.

He claimed there was no political pressure upon him.

KDP Nazim Mashooq Shah said they had requisitioned the district council session on Nov 24 in which they would table a no-confidence resolution against District Nazim Nafisa Shah.

He claimed more than 10 Nazims of the ADP would join the KDP in the council session and they would vote against the district Nazim.
