ISLAMABAD: Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan said on Tuesday that Pakistan’s exports to India will reach $1 billion mark within a year.
“There is a lot of potential for Pakistani textile products in India,” the minister said while meeting a delegation of Pak-India Business Council (PIBC) led by Yawar Ali Shah, a press release said.
Mr Dastgir opined that the Pakistan is the cost-effective market for India to import raw material for its agriculture and textile.
“Trade concessions to India cannot be offered unilaterally. India also needs to extend access to Pakistani products,” the minister added.
The delegates informed the minister that Indian food manufactures were looking for Pakistani agriculture products including mangoes, kinno and green peas.
The delegation was informed that the commerce ministry had restructured National Tariff Commission (NTC) in line with the legal framework guided by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
KP TO GET EXPO CENTRE: A delegation of Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association called on Mr Dastgir to discuss gems and jewellery exports.
Assuring full support to the group, the minister said the government will solicit resources until the export fraternity comes forward and mobilises its resources.

You can easily export upto 3 BN ,for example just see to recent past exibitions of Pak products in Delhi,all the textiles stuff was mostly sold out on first day.You need to use mind,you can get upto :3bn even more.just arrange a huge exibitions near Wagah Border of textiles and clothings,allow all those Indians free visa on border who show $ 1000 or more,the visa should be exibitions specific ,let them buy and return. Similiarly exibitions specific visa could be arranged in India.Both sides will benefit from such exibitions.

India gave MFN(most favoured nation) status to Pakistan long time back and Pakistan is yet to reciprocate the same.
If it's done there is a lot potential for trade between the two countries.
Due to differences between civilian and army governments she was unable to do it.

You do not need to take any steps unilaterally. Just reciprocate the Most Favoured Nation status to India.
It's amazing tho know how many billions both countries are losing by not cooperating. Imagine Pakistan becoming near shore centers for Indian automobile manufactures and export thousands of cars, buses, trucks to central Asia, Iran etc.
Pakistan could have access to a population of Billion plus for their textiles.
India has multi billion dollar companies but no land to build new factories. Pakistan has the later.

Both Pakistan and India has a lot of potential to do trade. In case these two countries use this potential a lot lf defence cost would be saved. Pakistan would have become a progressive state. Just imagine the loss both countries made during the last 70 years. The religious leaders in both countries screwd up the opportunities.

We have langra mangoes in Eastern India, but Pakistani soil and climate make your mangoes even better.
Trade is the only way for peace and sanity.
As they say, no Muslim businessman wants bad for his Hindu customers...and vice versa.

@Recent ,that is the way to go.But Boys are getting their budget of Rs 100 bn, so for them it doesnt matter, that proves starving workers of both sides do nt matter.I tell my PAK friends, if you are cost effective you can even sell Sand and Stones to India but then you have to show you have the will to do it. We are ready to buy.

My understanding is that govt on both sides are willing to work there are groups who work to jeopardize the moment 2 nations even try to talk positive. These groups need to be neutralized. Can Pak do this ? this is a million dollar question.
The potential is big for Pak to take advantage of Indian markets and improve the lives of millions, but they need to come out of the current impasse and issue of Kashmir.

@Kushal Das You have so much goodwill for Pakistan ,this is rarely seen. We can only say thank you for and yes we need lots of business as we have a big market of 200 million quality conscious people and India even six time bigger than us. I am not sure about the volume but opportunities are limitless to the tune of $ 20-25 billion in two way and the transportation cost so little. Only one sector although very small is technical books from Indian publishers. and India put a positive influence on our educated people. I find good quality books and reasonably priced and affordable as well.
We can learn so much from India in IT, almost like home next door, pharma and several other sectors where India excels and known all over the world. But consumer market, its potential could go through the roof.The possibilities are endless only the mindset has to be changed. Best regards
