GHALANAI: Curfew has been imposed in Mohmand Agency owing to worsening security situation, officials told Dawn here on Tuesday.

In this connection, announcements were made from mosques over loudspeakers that curfew would remain imposed from 10pm to 5am in all parts of the tribal region.

Security forces have already banned motorcycle riding in the agency for the last 10 days.

Meanwhile, Mohmand Rifles Naib Sobedar Sohrab Afridi was killed after falling from a mountain post near Sami Khel area of Haleemzai tehsil on the night between Monday and Tuesday.

The body was shifted to Mohmand Rifles headquarters in Ghalanai.

Meanwhile, at least three people were killed and six others sustained critical injuries when a Charsadda-bound passenger van plunged into a deep ravine in Balola Umar khel area of Parng Ghar tehsil on Tuesday.

According to the political administration, five persons were critically injured in the accident, who were shifted to Tangi hospital.

However, a resident of Prang Ghar cited hospital sources as saying three passengers were killed and six others were seriously injured in the accident.
