TAXILA: When they tried to remove an illegally constructed commercial plaza in Lub, a Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Taxila’s anti-encroachment team was fired at by the owner of the property on Sunday.

According to the police, TMA’s anti-encroachment team led by tehsil municipal officer Qammar Zeeshan was trying to demolish an illegally constructed commercial building when the owner of the property and his accomplices opened indiscriminate fire at them.

The police had to be called to rescue the team and to take the situation under control. The team remained safe but the official car they were using was damaged.

A case was later registered against eight known and three unknown attackers under various acts including the Anti-Terrorist Act and the police arrested the main accused identified as Fakhar Ullah.

Police sources said that raids to arrest the others nominated are being conducted.
