MIANWALI, Nov 14: Going to mosques for Friday prayers, people of the city were happy to see roads being repaired, sprinkled with water and cleaned by an army of sweepers under the supervision of works department officials.
Their happiness was short-lived however, as they noticed that the workers were leaving without finishing the job. An official of the works department, boarding his car in a hurry, told them that Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool’s visit to the city, scheduled to take place on Saturday, had been cancelled.
It is the third time that governor’s visit to the city has been cancelled. The governor was due here on Oct 15, then on Nov 12 and now on Nov 15. No new date for his visit has yet been announced.—Correspondent
