SPSC criterion

Published February 12, 2016

REFERENCE Arsalan Hyder’s letter ‘SPSC criterion’( Feb 9), recording his complaint against the Sindh Public Service Commission for the post of deputy district officer at the Social Welfare Department.

I also appeared for this examination and got a letter from SPSC for submission of documents. While submitting documents I explained to them that I do not have a degree in sociology but I have more than eight’s years of working experience in the humanitarian sector and I had been part of the UN World Food Programme working at a managerial level looking after milling, logistics, programme and operations and currently I am managing my own educational NGO.

I, however, got a rejection letter from them simply saying that I do not have a degree in sociology, to which I further told them that I have an MBA degree in Marketing which is a social science and I can get a sociology degree while working. In the meantime my experience in this sector should be considered as it will be of great use for the hiring organisation. However, I received no reply from the quarters concerned.

I agree with Mr Hyder that there are all types of mismanagement going on in the SPSC.

Through these columns I would still ask the SPSC to look into the matter and hire useful people.
