BADIN: Four guests, among them two brothers, died after consuming toxic moonshine at a wedding ceremony in Mohammad Bachal Nindo village within the jurisdiction of Khorwah police station, 37 kilometres from here, late on Sunday night, according to police.

They were among more than a dozen others, aged between 32 and 40 years, who fell unconscious immediately after drinking the liquor.

Wersi Mal, Wersi Das and Rammoon died instantly while Dhanchi died at the Badin Civil Hospital where he was taken to on Monday. Another guest Malhiyo is in a critical condition and still fighting for his life at a Hyderabad hospital. Rammoon and Dhanchi were brothers.

Eyewitnesses told journalists that over a 100 participants drank the liquor served at the ceremony and many of them fell unconscious immediately after drinking it while many others started throwing up.

Badin SSP Abdul Qayoom Pitafi suspended Khorwah SHO Mohammad Bux Chandio over negligence and ordered DSP of Golarchi to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident.

However, no FIR was registered at the Khorwah police station till the report was filed.
