LAHORE, Dec 28: The Lahore High Court on Friday issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of the Kot Lakhpat Jail superintendent.
Superintendent Farooq was summoned by Justice Khwaja Muhammad Sharif when he failed to arrange the treatment of an ailing prisoner, who had approached the court for bail on medical grounds. He was issued a contempt notice, which was also ignored.
The judge on Friday issued a warrant with the direction that the jail superintendent be arrested by an officer not below the rank of police superintendent and that he be produced in court on Jan 9.
LINE RENT: The PTCL has no justification for increasing the line rent, an application moved before the Lahore High Court said on Friday.
The application, made by Advocate M.D. Tahir in his pending petition against earlier increase, said the PTCL had frequently been raising rent on its old network without improving it. It is taking advantage of its monopoly and indulging in profiteering at the cost of taxpayer.
