PESHAWAR: Three people, among them a cleric, were injured when their car was hit by an explosive device near Waheedabad police post on Inqilab Road in the city’s suburb on Sunday morning.

According to an official of the Chamkani police station, Qari Abdul Mateen, Abdul Shakoor and Islamuddin were going to the city when the device planted in a pushcart went off at about 9am. It was detonated by remote control. The blast badly damaged the car.

The injured were taken to the Lady Reading Hospital where their condition was said to be stable. The official said they were Afghan nationals and living in Peshawar.

A case was registered against unnamed terrorists at the Pando police station.

According to a source, Qari Abdul Mateen belongs to the banned Jamaatud Dawa.
