The applicant moved the SHC through counsel Nooruddin Serki seeking interim bail as an accountability reference No 44 of 2001 is pending trial before the Accountability Court (AC-III) Karachi against her and her spouse regarding “living beyond known sources of income”.

When hearing began on Friday before the bench comprising Justice Shabbir Ahmed and Justice Muhammad Moosa K Leghari, applicant’s counsel submitted that his client is a housewife and did nothing against the law. He further submitted that the applicant was implicated in the reference due to mala fide intentions of the authorities.

The court after preliminary hearing fixed Dec 31 for next date of hearing.

According to prosecution, the reference is about corruption and corrupt practices committed by accused Abdul Aziz Memon and Farida Aziz as they amassed illegal wealth through illegal means.—PPI
