LAHORE, Oct 30: Aptma-Punjab vice-chairman Shahzad Salim reportedly resigned on Thursday from his office, deepening the crisis in the powerful organization of the country’s 300 plus spinners.

Aptma-Punjab standing committee on cotton chairman Yahya Salim also quit the job.

Both belong to Nishat Group of Industries that has already expressed its intention to quit the membership of Aptma along with three other major textile groups.

Neither Mr Shahzad nor Mr Yahya could be contacted till the filing of this report for confirmation of the report.

An Aptma spokesman told Dawn that he had not seen the resignations of the two gentlemen, but said it would not surprise him if they quit their respective Aptma offices in line with their group’s policy to dissociate from the organization.
