NAWABSHAH, Oct 29: Several dozen men, women and children staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Wednesday against their eviction, what they alleged, by the land mafia.
Protesters, led by Mohammad Ayub Baloch, were chanting slogans against Abdul Ghafoor Khenchi. They said some 85 families, mostly Makranis and Bheels, were living in that slum before the Partition.
They claimed the chief municipal officer Nawabshah had recommended regularization of the slum in 1989 but it could not materialize.
They said Ghafoor Khenchi, who claimed to be a close friend of the district and session judge, wanted to occupy the land on basis of fake documents.
They demanded of higher authorities to provide them justice and security and warned if their problem was not resolved, they would continue their protest.
Mother’s appeal: Saeeda, mother of Rao Kashif, who was murdered a few days back, has demanded justice from the president and prime minister.
Speaking at a press conference at the press club, she said her son was killed inside the Fauji Foundation School and principal of the school Major (rtd) Ghulam Abbas Khokhar was nominated in the FIR.
