KARACHI, Oct 12: An interesting card of seven races has been drawn for the second day of the Karachi Winter Meeting which will be held on Monday at the local turf. The first race will begin at 12-30 pm.

The race-goers will be advised to follow the flow of money in the betting ring as the present Managing Committee’s days are numbered and they may make an attempt to play the tricks to make fast bucks. It will be unwise to think that they will mend their ways as they themselves are responsible for inviting the trouble which is staring in their face.

Returning to the day’s racing in the opener, royal Promise, Silent Fire, Silver City, Noor-un-Nisa are the chance horses but Winning Streak is cut above class and even if he is half fit can walk away with top honours provided backed by the connections. I do not see any reason why the stable should not grab the opportunity with both hands. Silent Fire is the next best.

In the second race, Dauntless is cut above class and the stable will fund it hard to play hide and seek this time out. The people sitting in the glass house will have to watch the fluctuation of price in the betting ring. If they sense any foul play they will be advised to change the rider at the last minute as the stable has not been straight forward.

Arab King, Smoky Prince and Bye Bye catch the eye most in the third race. The last run of Smokey Prince behind Mera Jugnoo was too good. On that run he should take a lot of beating today.

In the fourth race, Yaqoob Choice, Mera Jugnoo, Grey Boy, Nawab and Star Of The Day are the form horses. The last named had run second behind Your Honour in his last outing. On that run he should have no difficulty in beating the present lot. Shining Steel can upset my calculations.

In the fifth race Sweet Grandy, Maha Sagar, Sarafan, and Sonia are the form horses. Sweet Grandy was not allowed to run on her merit last week but since she has gone up in the weights will have to be content to fight for lower berth with Pahelwan Choice who will find Sonia hard nut to crack.

In the sixth race Wonderful Peace, Innuendo, Miss Oozi, Thousand Up are the form horses while Trillion Winner is cut above class. Trillion Winner has to prove his prowess as he will be appearing on the local turf after a long time. I would, however, give him an outside chance. Innuendo gets my vote on her last two runs when she failed to oblige her connections. Thousand Up can give tough time to my fancy if he is anywhere near his mark.

In the concluding event of the day, Dur-e-Yemen is cut above class. He had a very good run on last Sunday behind Perfect Smile. On that run he may be the public fancy but may find as 9-5 weight to his disadvantage. Ray of light, Micky Mikkado II and On Song should measure their strength for less remunerative berths.
