LAHORE, Oct 12: Police on Sunday arrested 13 PML-N workers, including four women, when they tried to set up a protest camp at Faisal Chowk to observe a black day on the completion of four years of dictatorial rule of Gen Musharraf.

A minor scuffle also took place between the police and the party workers when the latter resisted their arrest. However, the police bundled them into vans and took them to the Racecourse police station where they were detained till the filing of this report.

Those arrested were Saira Bano, Salma Butt, Parveen, Zubaida, Nasir, Omar Farooq, Dilshad, Shahid, Iftikhar, Ramzan, Mahmoodul Hasan, Rafaqat and Anwarul Hasan.

Earlier, PML-N workers arranged a protest camp outside late Nawabzada Nasrullah’s Nicholson Road residence to observe the black day.

A group of women’s wing activists staged a sit-in on The Mall opposite the Punjab Assembly building.

A press release of the party alleged the police tortured the activists and tore their clothes before taking them into custody.

PML-N activists also took out processions or held meetings in several other cities, including Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Sialkot, Kasur and Gujranwala.
