LAHORE, Oct 12: A nephew of former provincial minister Mian Miraj Din was shot dead in the Defence Housing Society on Sunday.

Police said Muhammad Din, 23, of Upper Mall and owner of a cinema, visited his friend Yasir in Cavalry Ground. Yasir told the police Muhammad Din called his girlfriend and left for her house in the DHS. He was close to her house, the police said, when he was shot in his car.

His girlfriend Saira told the police she was about to open the gate of her house when she heard gunshots. She said he had died when she came out.

The police took Saira and Yasir into custody. They were being quizzed till late night and no case was registered. The body was removed to the city mortuary for autopsy.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed in accident on main road in Kahna on Sunday.

Police said Nasir Khan, 32, was on his way home when a van hit his motorcycle. He suffered serious injuries and died in hospital.

The body was returned to family without autopsy.
