SHIKARPUR, Oct 12: The investigation into the murder case of Kawish correspondent Ameer Bakhsh Brohi is going on since his death nine days ago but with no positive development yet.

However, the police claims to have found a clue to the killing as they arrested a driver, Ghazi Sanjrani, and later picked up Brohi’s uncle, Habibullah, who is the complainant in the case.

Habibullah was first kept at the Garhi Yasin police station but later shifted to some undisclosed location, it was learnt.

The police claimed that the following a statement of Sanjrani, disclosing the names of his accomplices, Habibullah confessed that he had hired professional killers, including Sanjrani, to kill his nephew so that he himself could become the correspondent of Kawish and the Sindhi satellite TV channel, KTN.

On the other hand, the father of the slain journalist, Illahi Bakhsh, uncle, Gul Mir, and other family members criticized the police action and said that Habibullah might have given his statement under police pressure as he might have been tortured.

They told journalists that the police wanted to change the direction of the case.

They complained that the police had not only failed to arrest the killers but were also not sincere in conducting an impartial investigation.

They demanded that the Sindh chief minister and the IGP should appoint a honest and competent police officer to investigate the case.

They also appealed to the IGP to order the Shikarpur DPO to allow them to meet Habibullah.

PROCESSION: Meanwhile, on the call of the Shikarpur Journalists’ Coordination Committee, a procession was taken out in Madeji on Sunday by journalists of Shikarpur and Larkana districts to protest against the delay in the arrest of the newsman’s killers.
