LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed five cooking oil units and had seven people arrested in the Chowki Crawl area after it found the workers extracting oil from dead animals fats on Saturday.

The PFA team was led by its Director (Operations) Ayesha Mumtaz. Cases have also been registered against units’ owners, said a press release.

PFA Iqbal Town team imposed a heavy fine on Bahria Grand Hotel at Bahria Town over poor hygiene and Bahria Food Court due to incomplete labeling, missing expiry dates on masala and broken freezer.

Fine was also imposed on Subway, Bahria Town Branch and Shan Barbecue, Raiwind Road, due to poor hygiene.

Ravi Town team imposed fine on Gourmet Bakers at Qila Muhammadi on a public complaint besides fine on Pak Kashmir Hotel, Faisal Hotel and Naeem Café.

In Samanabad, the PFA fined Butt Sweets. In Gulberg Town, it imposed fine on, Pizza Hut and Baba Gee Food. The team sealed production unit of Taj Mahal Sweets at Liaqatabad.

Nishtar Town team sealed Khwaja Murrabajaat Factory in the Kot Lakhpat area and seized 50,000kg of Murraba (preserved food) besides getting an FIR lodged against the owners.

The Punjab Food Authority teams in Wagah and Aziz Bhatti towns sealed an unnamed shop from where milkmen used to purchase powder to make artificial milk at Jallo Morr. Shalimar Town team imposed fine on NN Grill at Nakhuda Chowk and Special Cakes on the GT Road.

Data Ganj Bakhsh town’s team sealed Annayat Moti Choor Laddu House at New Anarkali and imposed fine on Butt Karahi Tikka Family Restaurant, Lakshmi Chowk, for placing chicken on floor.

It sealed Al-Nakhal Restaurant, Racecourse.
