Asif Bajwa named assistant coach

LAHORE, Oct 9: Olympian Asif Bajwa has been named assistant coach of Tahir Zaman of Pakistan hockey team which will take part in the Afro-Asian Games to be held at Hyderabad, India from Oct 24 said according to a PHF spokesman said on Thursday.

Asif, who is the coach of the Pakistan junior team, had no assignment with the second string, therefore, his services has been acquired for the seniors, the spokesman added.

Tahir will represent Pakistan in India as coach for the last time after which the new coach, Dutchman Roelant Oltmans, will take charge as head coach of Pakistan team.

Four officials including Oltmans, Tahir, Asif and Derek Velder will be included in the team management.
