KARACHI, Oct 7: The workshops and seminars contribute a lot towards updating and exchange of knowledge and information.

This was stated by the vice-chancellor of Karachi University, Prof Dr Zafar Saeed Saifi, while speaking as chief guest at the concluding session of a national workshop, a statement said on Tuesday.

It said the six-day moot on research methods in social sciences was held by the Research Facility Centre of the KU Faculty of Arts.

Lauding the role of late Dr I.H. Qureshi, a former vice-chancellor of the varsity, Prof Saify said that Dr Qureshi, in his tenure, saw the golden period of the Karachi University.

The VC congratulated the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof Dr Abuzar Wajidi, for organizing the workshop.

A former KU dean Prof Dr Manzoor Ahmed, highlighting the significance of research in the field of education, urged the faculty members to undertake research work.

Dr Manzoor was of the view that the development of the university depended on the academic excellence of the teachers, which could only be achieved if the teachers took interest in research work.

Dr Manzoor was optimistic that the workshop would contribute towards promotion of research in social sciences.

Prof Dr Abuzar Wajidi gave details of the activities conducted during the six-day moot.

He was of the view that research was a tool for the quest of truth, knowledge and understanding.

On the occasion, Prof Tanveer Khalid presented the vote of thanks.—APP
