LAHORE, Oct 7: A high-level delegation of Pakistani traders currently visiting Iran to attend the four-day private sector meeting of Islamic Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday called on Iranian President Mohammad Khatami in Tehran.

According to a message received here on Tuesday from Iran, delegation leader Tariq Sayeed discussed with Iranian president matters of mutual interests, exchanged views on bilateral relations, especially for the promotion of trade among Muslim countries.

ICCI President Ismail Ali Abu Dawood, Iranian Commerce Minister Mohammad Sariatmadari and Iran Chambers of Commerce and Industries and Mines President Eng. A.N.S. Khamoushi were also present on the occasion.

Tariq Sayeed said that investment-friendly policies being pursued by the Pakistan government promised sovereign guarantees to all foreign investors.

The Iranian president expressed the hope that frequent exchange of visits of private sector delegations of either countries would help promote mutual understanding and strengthen economies.

Deputy leader of the delegation, Iftikhar Ali Malik said that Pakistan had offered incentives package to the foreign investors and there was a great scope for Iranian investors in Pakistan. He said the overall economic condition of Pakistan had registered a remarkable improvement.

Traders’ delegation comprising Tariq Sayeed, Iftikhar Ali Malik, Zubair F. Tufail and Arshad Riaz Fazli were also conferred on honourary ICCI membership award in recognition of their meritorious services rendered for the promotion of trade among Islamic countries.—APP
