KARACHI, Oct 5: A 17-year-old boy was shot dead and his father was injured when a young man opened fire at them in Lyari on Sunday.

Police said that the councillor of UC-10 of Lyari Town, Haji Chanzeb, accompanied by his son Junaid Rehman, was supervising road carpeting near Chel Chowk. The brother of Nazim of the same UC, Sajid Rauf, and Aslam Dhobi came there and asked the councillor to order road carpeting near their house.

Quoting the statements of eye witnesses, police said that they exchanged hot words after which Nazim’s brother, Sajid Rauf, allegedly opened fire at them and fled.

The wounded councillor and his son were rushed to the Civil Hospital, where the son was pronounced dead on arrival. However, the councillor was provided treatment at the hospital.

After getting treatment at the hospital, the injured councillor lodged an FIR with the Kalakot police and nominated Sajid Rauf, Abdul Rauf Baloch and Aslam Dhobi in the case.

Police said that all the nominated men were absconding following the incident.

In the jurisdiction of Kalri police station, a young man was shot dead late Saturday night.

Police said that Majid, 24 and his friend, Riaz, had an exchange of words with Mohammad Rafiq over cricket at 9.30 pm. The matter was pacified by some area people, police added.

Later, Mohammad Rafiq along with two accomplices opened fire at the two friends at night and fled. Majid was pronounced dead on arrival at Civil Hospital while his freind Riaz was admitted for treatment.

BODY FOUND: The body of an unidentified young man was found from Mominabad, Orangi Town, late on Saturday night.

Police said that the trussed-up body of a young man wearing was recovered from the Rahimshah graveyard. The body with bullet wound in the head was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
