MULTAN, Oct 4: The Pakistan Seraiki Party has chalked out a campaign to compel the government to fix the cotton seed price at Rs1,500 per maund.

Speaking at a press conference, PSP chief Taj Langah said his party was starting its protest campaign by organizing a rally at Mailsi in Vehari district on Sunday.

He said that in view of continuous increase in the input prices, the price of cotton seed was not viable less than Rs1,500 per maund. He also demanded that prices of fertilizers, pesticides, electricity and fuel be rationalized to reduce the cost of production.

Speaking on other issues, he urged the prime minister not to succumb to the US pressure on the matter of sending troops to Iraq.

He even opposed the sending of military troops to Iraq under the UN and OIC umbrella, saying: “It was the UN embargoes on Iraq that left thousands of children dead because of paucity of medicines.”
