ISLAMABAD: Telenor Pakistan's youth-centric brand, Djuice, is proud to announce Apportunity 2015 – a competition for Pakistani students and upcoming software developers to create the best mobile phone applications (apps).

Building on its previous success, the competition is now bigger than ever before. Djuice has partnered with Microsoft and numerous other partners to ensure all participants in the event gain mentorship and guidance in order to bring their apps to life.

Chief Marketing Officer Telenor Pakistan Irfan Wahab said:

“Over the years, Apportunity has cemented its spot at being the most sought-after platform for the emerging app developers to showcase their creativity and talent in the mobile application market. Through this contest, we intend to provide opportunities and create platforms for the youth and new app developers to share their innovation and creativity with the world.”

Categories and prizes

There are a number of categories to register in including education, entertainment, communication, health, governance and 'Internet of Things'.

'Internet for All' and 'Mobile Technology Education' are among the Telenor Group’s top goals. As such, participants who register in the education category will stand a chance to win $13,000 and a trip to Thailand, where they will represent Pakistan at the Global Digital Conference.

This multi-cultural conference is a platform for the winners to serve as Pakistan’s Ambassadors to the world and play a pivotal role in shaping perceptions about their country.

All other participants can win up to $8,000.

To make it even more lucrative, the winning apps will be featured on the Telenor App store which has introduced in-app purchases through mobile credit for the first time in Pakistan, thus allowing mobile users without credit cards to also purchase apps.

The apps are not restricted to any platform since Telenor is accepting submissions for Android, IOS and Windows Phones.
