QUETTA: A power company has said that all possible steps will be taken to protect marine life and environment in Hub town while setting up a coal-based plant.
During a briefing to former speaker of Balochistan Assembly Muhammad Aslam Bhootani and the chairman and members of the Hub union council in Gadani, the Hubco Power Company’s senior vice president Tariq Javed said the reservations expressed by them would be addressed.
He said efforts would be made to provide maximum jobs and other facilities to local people.
Mr Bhootani said he had always supported development activities but opposed this project along with the elected representatives of the area in view f its impact on the environment.
He hoped that the assurance given by the company’s official would address people’s reservations.
Mr Bhootani said the company should also launch social development projects, improve the infrastructure and provide health and education facilities to local people.
He said that maximum number of jobs should be given to locals in the proposed project and complained that the company had ignored them earlier.
He said he might take recourse to a court of law if local people were deprived of jobs by the company.
