SARGODHA: University of Sargodha (UoS) Vice Chancellor Muhammad Akram Chaudhry says the university has become the top priority among the public and private colleges of the province but only such institutes are given affiliation as play a leading role in teaching techniques, research and co-curricular activities.

Addressing the principals and chief executives of the affiliated colleges here on Monday, Mr Chaudhry said the UoS was the second largest university of the country after the Punjab University with the affiliation of 483 colleges.

He assured the representative of the affiliated colleges the university would leave no stone unturned to provide them with full cooperation and guidance.

UoS affiliation committee chairman Dr Muhammad Ali said the affiliation was awarded to the colleges after visiting them and confirmation of the criteria that they were asked to follow.

PEERZADA: Veteran actor Samina Peerzada held meetings with the local women in Bhabra, a small town of the district, and gave them tips on cleanliness, family planning, reproductive health and the value of age gap between children.

She also provided them with information about a contraceptive device.

Talking to the women, Ms Peerzada said: “It is a real pleasure for me to be able to interact with the women and discuss such important matters with them”.

She lauded efforts of the DKT, a non-government organisation, for doing a commendable job and setting up Dhanak centres across the country, having experienced and professional midwives to guide the families about healthcare and family planning.

WHEAT: Due to the recent thunderstorm in the district, wheat growers, facing heavy losses, have demanded special relief from the government.

The government is expecting a tremendous yield and fixed the target of 1,000kg per acre while wheat was sown over 1,642,642 acres land in four districts of Sargodha division.

WALK: A walk was arranged by District Coordination Officer Saqib Manan under the banner of “Ham Se Hey Pakistan” in connection with the Jashn-i-Baharan which was attended by the students of schools, colleges and the University of Sargodha.
