LAHORE, Sept 24: FIFA’s Goal Project director for Pakistan Manilal Fernando will will arrive here on Oct 4 to discuss the future of the project which has considerably been delayed.

FIFA has sanctioned $400,000 for the Goal Project some two years back. But the work on the project could not start as the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has failed to acquire a piece of land for the project.

Fernando vice-president of the AFC will meet the PFF president during his visit.

PFF vice-president Ghulam Abbas Baloch had announced that the Goal Project had been shifted to Karachi soon after the elections of the PFF.

However, the PFF general council meeting on Aug 28 to elect the new office-bearers, had given Sept 16 as last date to the former secretary Agha Liaquat Ali to get a piece of land in Karachi or the decision about the Goal Project would be taken by a special committee.

Liaquat, who has been elected as PFF senior-vice-president at the recent elections, has so far failed to inform the PFF about the development.

Meanwhile, PFF president Faisal Saleh Hayat has announced to increase the daily allowance of the players and team officials during the training camps and foreign tours.

However, according to the announcement, the officials will get more than the players. The players who attend the training camps will receive Rs250 instead of Rs100 per day and $20 per day during the tours instead of $10.

The officials, including, manager, coach, doctor and “others” will be given Rs500 per day during the training camps instead of Rs200. On foreign tours, the officials will be given $25 per day.
