ISLAMABAD, Dec 22: Kathak dancer Nahid Siddiqi will perform at the Islamabad Club on January 16 under the aegis of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

Ms Siddiqi will also hold a dialogue on “dance as an instrument of social change” on the occasion.

Dance maestro, Ms Siddiqi, surfaced on the art scene of the country in 1970, after learning this art from Maharaj Ghulam Hussain Kathak. Later, she went to India to fine tune her lessons.

In the 80s, Ms Siddiqi went to UK where she opened a dance academy to spread this art.

Nighat Chaudhry, the in-charge of the PNCA’s dance ensemble, is one of the students of Ms Siddiqi.

Ms Siddiqi will also demonstrate her art at the Alhamra Art Council, Lahore and the PNCA Complex, Karachi, on January 17 and 19 respectively.
