Lucrative treble by trainer Moheyuddin

KARACHI, Sept 21: Young trainer, Moheyuddin worked up a lucrative treble at the Karachi Summer Gymkhana races held in Sunday at the local turf.

He worked up treble through Ranjha in the fourth race, Visitor in the seventh race and Keen Winner in the concluding event of the day. All his winners could be had at long odds as some of the horses which were well supported in the betting ring either failed to figure even on the board or ran backward races while Moheyuddin’s charges ran true to their form.

During the day Mr. Mohsin Shaikh’s three year old colt, Perfect Smile made a very impressive debut when after being well backed by connections humbled Innuendo who was the public fancy on her last run. Another horse which recorded a most impressive win was Sardar who completed his hat-trick of wins when the colt showed a brilliant burst in the home stretch to leave the field cold.

Horses who performed below their form were Your Pleasure in the fourth race who failed to show his sparks when charged by his rider to be beaten fair and square by Ranjha. Fast And Furious also failed to live upto his reputation when the colt just blew up in the straight after heading the field till the bend. Al Aashia who was installed first favourite in the last race just was left at the gates and failed to figure even on the board. The running of Al Aashia was suspect as the filly had never before showed any sign of even being fractious at the gates.

The day’s riding honours were shared by Mr. Barani, Tariq Baran and Arshad who all piloted home a brace of winners each. While Barani piloted home Visitor and Keen Winner, Tariq Baran worked up his double through Pahelwan Choice and Maha Sagar. Arshad rode Sovero and Ranja. Arshad in fact got the Ranjha mount at the last minute when he replaced Khalid Nawaz who was originally engaged by the stable.

The next Gymkhana Races will be held on Wednesday.
