MANSEHRA: The family members of Major Zahid Iqbal, who died while fighting terrorists in Dattakhel area of North Waziristan Agency the other day, have shown the resolve to continue to render more sacrifices for ridding the country of the menace of terrorism.

“We are proud of our gallant soldiers who have been rendering sacrifices to protect our motherland from terrorists who want to enforce their own agenda on Pakistan,” said Lt-Gen Hidayatur Rehman, Corps Commander Peshawar, while speaking to media men after the funeral prayers of Major Iqbal in Sherpur area here on Saturday.

Later, he was laid to rest with full military honour, where a contingent of army led by the Peshawar corps commander presented salute to the grave.

Major Iqbal left behind a widow, two children named Hassnat, 7, and Hussain, 5.

Family vows to render more sacrifices for motherland

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rehman said that operation Zarb-i-Azb was going on with full force and achieving its objectives.

“Time is not far when terrorists would be completely wiped out from our soil,” he said.

On the occasion, Abdur Raheem, father of late Major Iqbal, said that he and his family were proud of their son’s great sacrifice for protecting the country from terrorists.

“I am even ready to go to the frontlines to fight the enemy and lay down my life. I will also send my two grandsons to join army to follow on the sacrifice of their father,” said Mr Raheem.

He said that his son was coming back home today (Saturday), but his body arrived instead. But the family feels satisfied and proud of his supreme sacrifice, he added.

MILK SELLERS FINED: The Mansehra municipal committee’s chief food inspector on Saturday fined 13 milkmen for selling adulterated milk.

Mohammad Siddique accompanied by police and other officials checked milkmen while they were on way to deliver milk to their respective destinations, including hotels, and fined them for mixing the milk with water and chemicals. He sent samples to Peshawar for laboratory test.

Mr Siddique said that the local food department had also served notices on hoteliers and milk sellers to ensure use of pure milk, or face fine and jail.

He also appealed to people to inform the municipal committee about those selling contaminated milk.
