KARACHI, Sept 20: Cargo handling activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side on Saturday as the total tonnage rose to 0.103m tons, according to KPT sources.

The increase in the total was attributed to larger handling of liquid tonnage, notably crude oil and highspeed diesel. The export tonnage rose to 20,865 tons including 2,017 tons of rice and import cargo to 82,116 tons including 46,418 tons of oils.

Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where

two ships, Kota Tegap to offload and load containers and Hermia to offload chemicals were berthed after the departure of eight.

The ships, which departed included Kota Wijaya, Hyundai Highway, Tai He, Flame, Darya Dhayan, Panta Nassa, Al-Barakah and Hermia departed, while Shalamar, Mercs Komari, Oriental Bright, Manhattan, Orient Stride, Wan Hai-303 and Kota Tegap are due to sail out on Sunday.

The following ships are due on Sunday: Tai Guhai, with 33,000 tons of DAP fertilizer, Marylaki, with 11,700 tons of steel coils, Anne Mieki, with general cargo, Nur al-Jubail, with, 6,500 tons of chemicals and Action Express, with 54,000 tons of highspeed diesel.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, Sept 20: Three ships carrying containers and coal were allotted berths at QICT and Steel Jetty during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Saturday.

Meanwhile, two more container ships, Teresa and Conti Germany, also arrived at the outer anchorage. Three vessels namely Safmarine Pakistan, Cimbria and Flag Emma were busy in loading/ offloading containers and coal.
