ISLAMABAD, Sept 17: Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz will attend annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank in Dubai from September 20 to 24.
During his stay there the minister is expected to address seminars and roundtables, besides bilateral meetings with his counterparts, meetings with investors, fund managers, IMF and World Bank executives.
Mr Shaukat will address several seminars on financial sector reforms, Pakistan’s economic developments and its investment potential. He will meet members of Pakistani community and bankers and industrialists from the UAE and other countries.
Pakistan delegation will include the SBP governor, finance secretary and secretary economic affairs division.
The minister will discuss with his counterparts regional economic cooperation, bilateral aid and prospects of global and regional economies.
This is for the first time that the annual meeting of the World Bank and the IMF is being held in the region as normally it is held at Washington DC. Mr Shaukat will chair a seminar on “Financial reforms and private sector development” to be hosted by the World Bank and has been invited to address G-7 finance ministers.—APP
