LAHORE: A combined “Movement Disorder Clinic” is going to start from Saturday (today) from 11am to 1pm in an effort to improve clinical services in the neurosurgery department of the Lahore General Hospital (LGH).

All the cases with movement disorders, including Parkinson disease, distonia, chorea, essential tramers, will be examined in the neurosurgery OPD, according to a handout issued here on Friday.

A multi-disciplinary team headed by Neurosurgery Prof Dr Khalid Mehmood has been constituted for the treatment of movement disorder patients. Neurophysician Dr Shahid Mukhtar and physiotherapist Hafiz Ijaz are its members.

Earlier, a special procedure of deep brain stimulation was also introduced at the LGH for the treatment of Parkinson and other neuro disorders while a new invention of movement disorder clinic would further enhance facilities for the treatment of neurological disorders. — Staff Reporter
