KARACHI: As all schools and colleges are reopening on Monday, Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Nisar Khuhro has called a meeting on the day to review security arrangements for educational institutions in Sindh.

A spokesman for the education ministry said on Saturday that all schools and colleges in Sindh would reopen on Monday and the education minister had decided to look into the matter on the first day of school after the winter vacation.

At the meeting, Sindh IG Ghulam Hyder Jamali, Additional IG Ghulam Qadir Thebo, Rangers officials, Home Secretary Rahim Soomro, the Sindh education secretary, Karachi commissioner, private schools DG and registrar and director of schools will discuss Sindh’s security plan. The officials will brief the education minister on security arrangements.

“We are to stay alert amid threats to our children from terrorists. We need to come up with foolproof security arrangements as the schools reopen,” said Mr Khuhro. The meeting will be held in the committee room in the Sindh Assembly at 3pm on Monday.
