LAHORE: National Bank of Pakistan, PIA, Wapda, Army, Navy, Higher Educa­tion Commission, Punjab and Sui Southern Gas Company marched into the quarter-finals as three more matches were decided in the PSO 61st National Hockey Championships in Sialkot on Tuesday.

Two matches of the last-eight stage will be played on Wednesday with NBP meeting Navy and HEC locking horns with Wapda.

In the first match of the day, two-goal Bilal Qadir helped Customs beat Port Qasim Authority 3-1.

Bilal banged home in the 12th and 18th minutes while Shahbaz sounded the board in the 37th minute.

PQA’s goal was recorded by Rehan in the 38th minute.

PTV chalked up a close 2-1 win against Police with Fayyaz (22nd) and Nabeel Akram (39th) hit one goal each.

For Police, Atif Baig (47th) scored the solitary goal.

Two-goal Nohaiz Malik guided PIA to remain unbeaten in group stage by winning the last group match against Railways with an impressive margin of 6-1.

Nohaiz contributed goals in the 10th and 27th minutes.

Kashif Ali (7th), Azfar Yaqoob (12th), Awais-ur-Rehman (25th) and M Zubair (45th) were the other scorers.
